MALLY CHAKOLA

{Ma-Lee, like Sally with an “M”. Cha-Cola, like chocolate and cola!}

Helping others transform their personal and business lives into success brings me the greatest joy.

As titles go, I'm both an entrepreneur and corporate attorney, having practiced corporate law for the last 18 years in parallel to owning and operating multiple businesses.  I currently serve as a director and advisor to numerous nonprofits boards supporting causes I feel most passionate about such as the environment, arts education, and DEIB.

My track record of success through my companies has resulted in 200+ million media impressions including coverage in Success Magazine and Harper's Bazaar, and I’ve been on TV shows like HGTV and various news channels. I have been published in magazines (and even had some small circulation covers!), blogs, and newspapers.  I love speaking at large conferences, roundtables, and small workshops. I’ve spoken to diverse audiences on topics ranging from marketing and branding to restructuring of debt to aligning purpose with one’s life work. Those might seem like really different topics to you.  To me, they connect because I believe the more depth and breath we build in ourselves, the more resilience and success that we can generate for ourselves!

As a doer, setting big goals and achieving them lights me up.  Some of the most fulfilling highlights of my career have been:

✦Owning and operating my own event design company creating one-of-a-kind installations and customer experiences for international luxury brands.

✦Being a young “rainmaker” in a prestigious NYC law firm where I started my first day on the job with my own book of business and working during a historical high in the world of mergers and acquisitions.

✦Working as an attorney and being a connector within the business world for international banks, funds, and sovereign wealth funds responding to their mandates (by seeking deals of a specific type).

✦Single-handedly procuring $100 million in capital raises and financings as a deal maker for my own sphere of companies and leading to significant enterprise growth and the creation of over 100 jobs.

✦Founding and working in senior management of multiple large scale, wholesale manufacturing companies nationwide.

✦Founding and operating luxury fast moving consumer goods brand with omni-channel presence (direct to consumer, wholesale, and retail).

✦Creating the “Beauty Cottage” on Abbott Kinney (dubbed at the time “the Coolest Block in America” by GQ magazine) in Venice, California, where I built a community resourcing women to elevate their selfcare by nurturing their well being and business skills.

✦Restructuring the assets of nonprofits at pivotal, make-or-break moments leading them into new growth phases.

✦Sharing my diverse experience and learnings with individuals and for profit businesses to help them overcome challenges, set goals, execute, and create success for themselves.

A major accident at just 14 years old helped me define my purpose.

When I was just 14 years old, I received a gift.  It came as a massive car accident that left my body broken- sacrum split in half and pelvis in 4 pieces with lots of other “smaller” injuries like less significant fractures, punctured organs, and lifelong sciatic nerve damage.  If you are around me when it’s about to rain, or I am seated in a wooden chair, you know my accident is with me each minute of each day.

Barely a teenager, I remember a life changing moment lying in my body sling suspended in the air so that my bones could heal without pressure.  Staring at blank hospital walls through the dingy canvas, I heard my inner voice recognize that I had survived and would thrive if I surrendered to healing.  And then just as I accepted that, every cell in my body suddenly was enlivened and buzzing, “Go DO. Go LIVE.”

Fear, lack of support, and insecurity once may have dwarfed my willingness to take action as the daughter of an immigrant being raised in a rural town where I never fit in.  But now, it was replaced with new courage and urgency to act.

Fear no longer held me back because if I had survived death
I could certainly survive a challenge.
